A short service agreement sets expectations on access, scope, and billing before you start a recurring route stop at someone's property.

Scope of service

Specify what's covered (yard waste pickup only, or also patio/deck areas) and what's excluded (indoor accidents, waste from animals other than dogs unless agreed) so the client knows exactly what each visit includes.

Access arrangements

Document how you'll access the yard on service day (gate code, key, client present to let the dog in) and what happens if you can't get in — a missed visit due to blocked access is typically still billed or requires advance notice to reschedule.

Visit frequency and schedule

State the agreed frequency (weekly, twice-weekly, biweekly) and the general day/window of service, noting that weather or holidays may shift the exact day.

Initial cleanup

Note that a yard not currently on a maintained schedule may require a separately priced initial cleanup before regular service begins, since first-visit accumulation takes meaningfully longer to clear.

Additional pets

State the per-additional-dog fee so the client isn't surprised if a new dog joins the household mid-contract.

Cancellation and pause policy

Define notice required to skip a visit, pause service (e.g. vacation), or cancel recurring service entirely, since routes are planned around a predictable weekly stop count.

Liability and insurance

Clarify that you carry general liability insurance, and note any limits around interactions with the client's dog(s) if they're loose in the yard during service.

Payment terms

Specify the per-visit or monthly rate, billing cadence (many operators bill monthly in advance for a recurring route), accepted payment methods, and late-payment policy.
