    Most states don't require a special mobile-mechanic license, but you'll need a general business license, and some cities/counties restrict where you can drain fluids or work on residential streets — check local rules before your first job.

    Get commercial auto, general liability, and garage keepers insurance

    Non-negotiable — you're liable for a customer's vehicle while it's in your care, and a personal auto policy typically excludes business use.
